Gay Men's Health

If you are a gay man or unsure about your sexuality and thinking about seeking therapy, it will be important to you that your therapist understands and affirms your sexuality and lifestyle. In the past too often gay men faced discrimination and an overly pathologising stance from their therapist. The situation is far better now, but there remain pockets of poor practice that can put gay men off seeking therapy.

I have worked in Sexual Health and HIV settings in the NHS for six years and I have worked with many gay men on a wide range of issues to do with sexual and emotional well-being. I am registered on the Pink Therapy Directory of Therapists (see www.pinktherapy.org.uk for useful information and a list of therapists) that specifically caters for gay men and other sexual minorities.

My approach to you will be affirming and respecting, and will aim to promote sexual and emotional well-being. If there is something I do not understand I will always ask you so that I can be sure I am fully in the picture about what is going on in your life. I also work with same-sex couples wanting therapy (please see Couple Therapy page).

If you are thinking about seeking therapy, please do contact me and I will do my best to answer any questions you have about me, or the process of therapy.
